Last night we had some thunderstorms and rain overnight as the hot humid conditions finally produced some precipitation in the area. By the time we got up, the rain had stopped but it remained overcast for most of the morning. We left the dock at 07:35 and headed toward Savannah on the Skidaway and Wilmington Rivers. As we approached Savannah, the houses and boats got larger.

A couple of miles from the Savannah river, we had our first Gator sighting! He dove under the bow of the boat.

As we approached the Savannah river we started to encounter some container ship traffic.

After crossing the Savannah River we entered South Carolina and travelled through Fields Cut, the Wright River, Walls Cut, New River, Ramshorn Creek and the Cooper River to Hilton Head Island. We passed by Harbour Town at Hilton Head as we travelled up Calibouge Sound.

We entered Skull Creek and passed by a marina on the north side of Hilton Head which had a fabulous Yacht moored there. It was from Jaluit, Marshall Islands; a small pacific atoll with a population 1200 and one gas station. He must be doing well in his business because the boat is worth more than the country.

We then entered Port Royal Sound and motored up the Beaufort River to the city of Beaufort SC where we stayed at the Downtown Marina.

We arrived in time to do a bit of touring so we took a carriage ride through the historic district.

Lots of great homes from the 1700's and 1800's.

We went for a casual supper at Luther's Pub.
