We pulled away from the Megayacht Dock in Charleston today at around 07:50. It was a bit overcast with the forecast for the possibility of some light rain.

We sailed through Charleston Harbour and passed Fort Sumter on the way to the ICWW canal.

This portion of the ICWW was an excavated channel through an extensive area of salt marsh land. Just outside of Charleston, we passed by Isle of Palms which is filled with vacation homes, condos and golf courses.

This gave way to what we typically saw for the remainder of the first half of the day.

We crossed the Santee River shortly after noon and continued in the ICWW canal until we entered Winyaw Bay just before Georgetown SC.

We decided to continue on for a while and proceeded up the Waccamaw River where the scenery changed to cypress trees lining the edges of the waterway.

We ended up at the Wacca Wache Marina on Wachesaw Road on the Waccamaw River.

They had a great little restaurant (Hanna Banana's Sunshine Cabana) with an outdoor area so we decided to fore go eating on board and had a nice casual supper while listening to some of the local entertainment.

We returned to the boat to watch the sunset from the dock and have an evening glass of wine.

We are looking forward to tomorrow's trip through what the locals call the "Redneck Riviera", the ICWW through the Myrtle Beach area.
