Again, a lot of salt water marsh and a few sparse hammocks of trees. We travelled along the Beaufort River to Brickyard Creek and the Coosaw River to St. Helen Sound. From there we took the Ashepoo Coosaw Cutoff and Rock Creek to Ashepoo River. During our passage through some shallow water we again managed to gain the attention of some terns who were looking for fish stirred up by our passage.
From there we took the Fenwick Cut to the South Edisto River which we followed for about an hour to Watt's Cut and North Creek to the Dawho River at around noon. From there we travelled the Wadmalaw River where we saw our first naval vessels, some landing craft.
As we neared Charleston, we again started to see some larger houses and some of the longest docks we have encountered. These are needed to get out to the deeper water of the river and deal with the 9 foot tide.
That's about a 1000 ft walkway to the dock.
We tucked up in behind "Aphrodite", a 130 ft mega yacht. There were at least 20 more like it sharing our dock.
Don't Cha and Aphrodite
(We sort of look like the Clampett's)
Look real hard and you will see us back there!
We took the free shuttle downtown to the market area and managed to get the last carriage ride of the day.
We got to enjoy a good overview of the history and architecture of the old town.
Supper was at the Fleet Landing and after a bit of a wait, had some great food.
We returned to the dock and admired the megayachts.
and our own little "Don't Cha".
